The powerful positive experience of the 1960s movement—the crucial importance of uniting broadly against injustice and atrocity, with open-minded engagement of different ideas and programs...
An 'open-minded engagement of different ideas and programs...' YES!!
I believe there is a basic connection between all oppressive systems: the idea that it is inevitable that some people should be 'on top' and others 'on the bottom'.
That said, believing in and fighting for true social equality between woman and men is fundamental if we want to change the 'status quo' that is destroying all of us and the planet that we live on. As long as women are on the 'bottom' as they are, the endless struggles for domination (between classes, races, religions, countries, etc) will continue.
I'm very excited about having just completed a full length documentary on Andrea Dworkin.
Her challenge to the systems of domination/submission that are strangling all of us in this more and more brutal world, is more relevant today than ever. She was brilliant and courageous....We need voices like hers desperately: she INSPIRES serious, COMMITTED activism!
She was CLEAR in her writing and her speeches - which is why she was SO vilified and ridiculed. Her analysis of patriarchy is DEEP and THREATENING to the powers that be.
Dworkin's partner, John Stoltenberg viewed the piece and has said:
"What a powerful tribute to Andrea and what a radical feminist motivator/mobilizer you have made."
What people are saying about DWORkIN:
"Blown Away! What an incredible documentary: ENGAGING, ENRAGING, ENERGIZING!"
"An important work that will affect the lives of so many people. It is insightful honest and inspiring."
"I just saw and heard the most remarkable woman. I felt that she was talking directly to me as her strong and soft voice spoke her truth. Our Truth."
